At least six drivers filed police reports after objects thrown from moving cars shattered their windshields along Socialville-Foster Road in Liberty Township on Thursday, Oct. 1.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incidents, which occurred along the same stretch of road that night, WLWT first reported. No suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
Tori Frank, one of the victims, told WLWT she heard a boom while driving and initially thought she had been in a crash. She believes someone threw a frozen water bottle at her car.
"It completely shattered my windshield. It like destroyed it … I was just so confused. I thought maybe I had gotten into an accident," Frank said.
Frank said the damage could cost nearly $1,000 to repair. It was the second time her car had been struck in a similar attack.
When Frank called 911, dispatchers told her it was homecoming night and suggested the perpetrators were likely teenagers.
Frank shared her experience on TikTok, and additional victims reached out. She said two or three other people told her a similar thing had happened to them and their windshields were also shattered.
One Tesla owner reported that a pineapple was thrown at their vehicle, breaking the windshield and a sensor. The Tesla's onboard camera captured video of the car that threw the object, though the license plate was not visible.
Frank said the string of attacks is dangerous, noting that someone could have gotten into an accident after being hit. She said the repair costs are adding up for all the victims.
The Warren County Sheriff's Office has not released an official statement on the investigation as of Sunday, Oct. 4. The agency indicated other police departments across the region may also be searching for those responsible.
No named spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office has commented publicly on the case.
