Butler County Sheriff's deputies removed a snake from a resident's bedroom and released it back into the woods, the Sheriff's Office announced Sunday, sharing video of an undated recent call on social media.

Video posted to the office's X account showed the snake sliding around the bedroom floor. By the time deputies arrived, the animal had gone into hiding under the bed, according to the post. Deputy Brittney Koch led the effort alongside other deputies, coaxing the snake out and relocating it unharmed.

"I've always said no two days are the same around here. One call you're chasing a fugitive, the next you're chasing a snake under somebody's bed," Sheriff Richard Jones said in a statement shared by WLWT.

The Sheriff's Office did not identify the species of the snake, the specific address of the home, or the exact date of the call.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office provides dedicated police services to Liberty Township under a four-year contract that costs Liberty Township $3.9 million in 2025, rising to $4.4 million by 2028. Under the agreement, the office assigns one lieutenant, five sergeants, one corporal, 20 deputies and three detectives to the township.

Todd Minniear, president of the Liberty Township Board of Trustees, said in January 2025 when the new contract was announced: "We get tremendous service from the Butler County Sheriff's Office and our contract is extremely efficient, cost-wise."

The policing arrangement is funded primarily by a 3.3-mill continuing levy that voters approved in March 2024, expected to raise about $3.5 million annually.
