Hopewell Junior School girls basketball hopefuls have five open gym sessions and a two-day tryout window to earn a roster spot ahead of the 2026-2027 season.

The West Chester school posted its tryout schedule, listing open gyms on Tuesday, Oct. 13; Thursday, Oct. 15; Tuesday, Oct. 20; Tuesday, Oct. 27; and Thursday, Oct. 29. All five sessions run from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

Tryouts follow on Friday, Oct. 30, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 31, from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

The school expects students to attend open gyms if they plan to try out.

Hopewell fields both a seventh-grade and an eighth-grade team. Eighth-grade coach Joseph Bobinger and seventh-grade coach Franklin Pina are the contacts for families with questions. Bobinger can be reached at [email protected] and Pina at [email protected].

Registration and fees

State guidelines require a current physical before any open gym, practice or tryout. Physicals are valid for one year from the date issued. Forms must be completed before a student steps on the court.

The athletic fee is $225 per sport for junior school students, according to the school's athletics page. A family cap is available for families with multiple students in extracurricular athletics or marching band at the junior or high school level. Lakota Local Schools uses Final Forms for all athletic registration and paperwork.
