Lakota East quarterback Nile Knutson threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns Friday, Sept. 25, but unbeaten Princeton overwhelmed the Thunderhawks 48-22 at the Hawks Nest.
Senior wide receiver Braxton Thurman hauled in seven catches for 114 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown reception from Knutson that tied the game in the first quarter. The junior quarterback also scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown with about six minutes left and East converted the two-point attempt that followed.
Princeton answered every Lakota East rally. Vikings running back Jordan Hall carried 15 times for 140 yards and four touchdowns, scoring on the opening possession. Quarterback Key'Sean Torbert added 227 passing yards, 130 rushing yards and two touchdowns as Princeton piled up 591 yards of total offense to East's 312, according to the Journal-News.
The Vikings led 27-14 at halftime. Princeton never let up in the second half, improving to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in the Greater Miami Conference.
Head coach Jon Kitna told the Journal-News after the Sept. 25 loss that his team could not afford mistakes against a superior opponent. "You can't be wrong. You can't miss things, and we missed too much," Kitna said.
East blocked a Princeton extra-point attempt in the third quarter.
The Vikings still rushed for 341 yards on the night, leaving few defensive bright spots for the Thunderhawks.
The loss dropped Lakota East to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the GMC. Both defeats have come against ranked opponents: a 48-18 loss to rival Lakota West in Week 2 and the Princeton result. East entered Week 6 ranked No. 7 in the Greater Cincinnati area, according to WLWT.
Knutson's season numbers through six games stand at 113-of-166 passing (68 percent) for 1,421 yards and 16 touchdowns, according to stats the junior posted on X on Sunday, Sept. 27. As a sophomore in 2025, he threw for 2,486 yards and 22 touchdowns while East finished 8-4.
Lakota East travels to Fairfield (2-4, 1-4 GMC) on Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
