Lakota East boys soccer settled for a 1-1 draw at Kings on Tuesday, Oct. 6, the Thunderhawks' fifth tie of the 2026 season.
The result left East at 7-3-5 overall and 4-2-1 in the Greater Miami Conference with two regular-season matches remaining before the postseason. The Lakota East athletics website called the fall a competitive stretch for the program.
Five draws in 15 matches stand out on the stat sheet. East has played to ties in a third of its non-loss results, and the Kings match was the latest in a season full of one-goal margins.
The Thunderhawks put together a strong offensive run in late September. East beat Hamilton 5-0, controlling the match with sharp passing and a defensive clean sheet. The Hawks then went on the road and outscored Bellbrook 6-4, giving East 11 goals across two games. Those results moved the Thunderhawks to 6-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in GMC play at the time.
Earlier in the season, East opened conference play with a 1-0 road win over Middletown. Junior Miles Polacheck scored the only goal. Senior goalkeeper Nick Maslin recorded four saves for the shutout, and the win moved East to 2-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the GMC.
The Thunderhawks' 3-1 comeback win over Fairfield on Sept. 4 was one of the season's signature results. East trailed at halftime before Parker Ante equalized off a corner kick from Colton Pensinger. Polacheck put the Hawks ahead with an assist from Santi Rodriguez, and Hilary Lanjo added an insurance goal with help from Tyree Bikoko. That win pushed East to 4-1-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
Since then, the Thunderhawks have gone 3-2-3 over their next eight matches to reach the current 7-3-5 mark.
East hosts Colerain on Tuesday, Oct. 13, then closes the regular season at Princeton on Thursday, Oct. 15. Both opponents are GMC foes, and the results will shape East's postseason positioning heading into the OHSAA tournament.
