Lakota East junior Jacob Turner finished fifth out of a 32-team field at the Lebanon Running Warrior Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5, clocking 16:45.5.

Turner's time marked a roughly 11-second improvement over his season-opening 16:56.6 at the Centerville Saturday Night Lights Invitational, where he placed 33rd individually.

The Thunderhawks placed 12th as a team in the large-school division, according to the Lakota East athletics department. That's up from 19th of 26 teams at Centerville.

Senior Daniel Gibson added a season-best 18:32.9, moving through the field steadily throughout the race.

Head coach Jack Barchet's squad heads to the Little Miami Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 12, followed by the Troy Twilight Invite on Sept. 19 and the Fairmont Firebird Invite on Sept. 26.
