Lakota East's volleyball team lost its second straight five-set match Sunday, Sept. 20, falling to Little Miami after rallying from a set down to take a 2-1 lead.

The Panthers forced a fourth set and then won the decider 15-12, according to the Lakota East athletics website. The loss dropped the Thunderhawks to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in Greater Miami Conference play.

East opened the match by losing the first set. The Thunderhawks answered by taking the second and third sets to grab a 2-1 advantage. Little Miami clawed back to even the match at two sets apiece, then pulled away in the fifth.

Only the fifth-set score was published.

Second five-setter in a week

The Little Miami result came five days after East fell to Harrison in five sets on Sept. 15. The Thunderhawks also lost to Oak Hills in five sets on Sept. 8, according to MaxPreps.

Three of East's last four losses have gone the distance. The lone exception was a 1-3 defeat to Goshen on Sept. 5. In the Little Miami match, the team held a set lead twice before the Panthers regrouped.

Season snapshot

East's 4-7 record includes a 3-0 sweep of crosstown rival Lakota West on Sept. 10 and a 3-1 win over Badin on Aug. 29. Those two victories, along with the team's 3-2 conference mark, show the Thunderhawks have held their own in GMC play even as the overall record has tilted.
