Two Lakota West High School students helped the Cincinnati Dragons win a wheelchair basketball tournament in Erlanger, Ky.
Ali Waldbillig, a senior, and Mae McKnight, a sophomore, both compete for the Dragons, a team in the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). The Dragons won their home tournament, beating squads from Louisville, Grand Rapids and Indianapolis, according to Lakota West's daily announcements posted Monday, Oct. 26.
The Indianapolis team was ranked fifth nationally among NWBA varsity teams, the school announcement said.
Waldbillig and McKnight both played in the tournament games and contributed to the Dragons' success, the announcement said. The Dragons operate under the Greater Cincinnati Adapted Sports Club, an organization that provides adaptive recreation programs in the Cincinnati area.
The NWBA oversees wheelchair basketball competition across multiple divisions nationwide. The association released its first Adult Division power rankings of the 2026-27 season on Oct. 19, based on rosters and games played through Oct. 16. The varsity division, where the Indianapolis opponent was ranked, is a separate bracket from the adult tiers.
No individual game scores from the Dragons' tournament were available as of publication.
