At least 400 new jobs are coming to West Chester Township as biomanufacturer Resilience expands production of Eli Lilly's KwikPen injectable devices at its Trade Port Drive campus.
The two companies announced the expansion Thursday, saying their combined investment in Resilience's Ohio operations has now reached $750 million. Site preparation is already underway, with full KwikPen production expected to begin in early 2027. The pen delivers Lilly's diabetes and obesity medicines, including Mounjaro.
"It's really, we're investing in people — people, careers, skills, advanced manufacturing right here in Ohio," Resilience President and CEO William S. Marth said in an interview with WVXU. "And, you know, we are grateful for the partnership and the opportunity that Lilly has given us."
The 400 positions will bring Resilience's total Ohio workforce to more than 1,400 employees. The company currently employs nearly 1,000 workers across its two Cincinnati-region facilities in manufacturing, operations, quality and regulatory roles, according to a company press release.
What the jobs look like
Josh Matson, site leader for Resilience's Ohio facilities, said the West Chester plant is largely automated but will need both hourly and salaried workers.
"So some of them will be folks that are going to be running these highly automated lines," Matson told WVXU. "Running a filling line, running a device assembly line or a packaging line where you're building those devices."
A growing West Chester footprint
Resilience purchased AstraZeneca's 580,000-square-foot West Chester Township campus at 8848 Trade Port Drive in November 2022. Combined with its global headquarters at 10901 Kenwood Road in Blue Ash, the company's operations total nearly 1 million square feet.
The company relocated its headquarters from San Diego to Blue Ash in June 2026, a move that brought approximately 200 jobs to Southwest Ohio. West Chester Township Community Development Director Jeff Uckotter praised the company's trajectory in June, when the headquarters move was announced, calling it "a win for our community, our workforce, and the broader Cincinnati metropolitan area."
Thursday's expansion is separate from a December 2023 announcement in which Resilience committed to 440 new jobs at the West Chester site with an annual payroll of nearly $29 million over three years.

Edgardo Hernandez, Eli Lilly's executive vice president and president of manufacturing operations, said the announcement highlights Resilience's role as a strong partner in strengthening domestic supply of high-demand treatments. Governor Mike DeWine cited the expansion as evidence of Ohio's growing life sciences sector.
KwikPen production at the West Chester facility is expected to begin in early 2027.
