Lakota West takes its 4-0 record to Princeton on Friday, Sept. 18, in a matchup of the Greater Miami Conference's only unbeaten teams.

The No. 3 Firebirds face the No. 1 Vikings with both squads sitting at 4-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play, according to the Blitz 5 Top 25 rankings released for Week 5. The winner takes sole possession of first place in the GMC standings heading into the second half of the schedule.

Lakota West head coach Tom Bolden, now in his eighth season leading the program, sized up the Princeton trip after the Firebirds' 42-7 rout of Hamilton on Sept. 12. "It's huge," Bolden said, according to The Report Ohio. "It will be all the high school football's about."

Senior running back Kenyon Norman, a Northwestern commit, ran for nearly 200 yards and four first-half touchdowns against Hamilton before sitting out the second half. In the Week 2 win over Lakota East, Norman rushed for 262 yards and four scores on just 13 carries.

The defense has been just as productive. Lakota West is allowing 10.5 points per game and has not surrendered more than 18 in any contest. Against Hamilton, Judah Blair and Roman Combs helped hold the Big Blue to eight total yards in the first half and one first down all night. Combs, a Purdue commit, and Iowa-bound defensive lineman Reilly Newman anchor the front.

Princeton presents a different challenge. The Vikings opened the year by knocking off then-No. 2 Moeller 31-24, ending Moeller's 19-game winning streak in the series. They followed with wins over Middletown (28-7), Colerain (49-6) and Sycamore (56-7).

Senior Jordan Hall has scored 11 touchdowns on just 43 offensive touches through four games. Quarterback Monsanna Torbert, an Indiana commit, rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown while throwing for 131 yards in the Week 2 win over Middletown.

Bolden acknowledged after the Hamilton game that his team still needs to clean up mistakes. He pointed to two red-zone interceptions and two called-back touchdowns, saying the effort was good but assignment miscues needed fixing before facing Princeton.

The stakes are straightforward. A loss drops either team a full game behind in the GMC race with no margin for error.

Lakota East, ranked No. 8 in the Blitz 5 poll at 3-1, travels to Hamilton on Friday, Sept. 18. The Thunderhawks have won back-to-back GMC games by three and four points after beating Mason 24-20 in Week 4.
