West Chester Township trustees had a Beckett Park West construction contract, a Norfolk Southern police grant and a Cox Road property settlement on their Tuesday, Sept. 22, agenda.
The meeting agenda at Township Hall listed a guaranteed maximum price agreement with Prus Construction for the Beckett Park West improvements, designated as capital project CIP 2120. The contract's dollar figure was not included.
The township is investing $5 million across its Beckett Parks, according to WCPO reporting in July. Construction is already underway at Beckett Park East for pickleball courts and a new walking trail. A separate contract with Civil and Environmental Consultants for construction material testing at Beckett Park West, capped at $55,000, was also on the agenda.
Trustees were also scheduled to authorize Township Administrator Lisa Brown to accept a Norfolk Southern Safety First Community Grant for the police department. The grant amount was not listed. According to the program's guidelines, the Safety First program funds first responders and emergency-preparedness efforts with awards of up to $15,000.
In legal business, the agenda included Resolution 28-2026, which would authorize acceptance of a settlement resolving a case involving property at 8468 Cox Road in Butler County Court of Common Pleas.
The board, chaired by Ann Becker and including trustees Lee Wong and Amanda Ortiz, also had three personnel actions on the docket. Fire Chief Rick Prinz recommended two career firefighter/EMTs: Keegan Sauter, previously a part-time firefighter/EMT with the Springdale Fire Department, and Phillip Corcoran, who had worked as a part-time laborer for Lambers Flooring Company. Both were listed to start Oct. 5 at a biweekly rate of $2,800.99, placed at Step 1 of the 2026 firefighter pay scale at $27.75 per hour.
Jesse Reynolds, a journeyman electrician with HVAC experience at Lakota Schools, was listed as a facility technician hire at $34.86 per hour. He would fill a vacancy left by Jeff McElwain's retirement in May.
Requisitions over $7,500 on the agenda included $54,280 to Dell Marketing for 54 computers and 10 monitors, $13,736 to Mobilcomm for two Fire Department wireless headsets, $14,880 to Butler Tech for CDL training tuition and $10,860 to Benchmark Land Management to reconstruct a headwall on Barrett Road.
The next trustees meeting is expected Oct. 13 at Township Hall, 9113 Cincinnati-Dayton Road.
