West Chester Township trustees will hear a progress report on the $5 million Beckett Park East construction project when they meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Community Services Director Mike Huxsoll is scheduled to open the meeting with the update. The project adds eight pickleball courts near the playground, 55 new parking spots and a walking trail to the 150-acre park, according to the township's meeting agenda.
When the township announced the project in late May, Huxsoll told the Journal-News the goal was to have the courts playable by fall. "It's an uncertain market for materials," he said at the time.
Board Chair Ann Becker, Trustee Bruce Jones and Trustee Lee Wong also face votes on several resolutions.
Nuisance properties and new streets
Resolution 24-2026 would declare nuisances on a list of properties and authorize the Community Development department to issue notices and pursue abatement. The agenda did not list addresses.
The board will also consider accepting streets in two subdivisions: Westview Meadows Section 4 and Honerlaw Section 2. Both would carry a 25-mph speed limit, with each neighborhood's homeowners association responsible for maintaining decorative signage and landscaping.
WCDC renewal and Duke Energy easement
Trustees are set to vote on renewing the agreement that designates the West Chester Development Council as the township's economic development agent. The agenda does not list the contract's dollar value or terms.
A separate resolution, 26-2026, would grant Duke Energy Ohio a perpetual, non-exclusive easement for electric service on township-owned land at the Voice of America site, identified as parcel M5610015000018. The 435-acre Voice of America MetroPark, operated by MetroParks of Butler County, sits on the broader VOA property.
Spending and surplus
Four requisitions over $7,500 are on the consent list. The largest is $82,359.30 to FBT Gibbons LLP for legal services through July 31. Other items include a $12,000 Telestaff cloud subscription renewal for the fire department, a $9,303 Inseyets Online Pro renewal for police and $7,875.87 to replace an emergency-light control module on a medic unit.
Resolution 25-2026 would declare surplus items for disposal.
Residents may speak during the public comment period, limited to two minutes per person and 10 minutes total. Anyone needing ADA accommodations should call the township at (513) 777-5900 at least 72 hours before the meeting.
