Griffin Wullenweber shot a 2-under-par 70 to lead Lakota West's boys golf team to a district-qualifying finish at Glenview Golf Course.

The senior earned sectional medalist honors Tuesday, Sept. 22, as the Firebirds posted a team score of 309 to finish third at the OHSAA Division I sectional tournament. The top four teams and four individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the district round, and Lakota West locked up one of those team spots under coach Steve Nguyen.

Wullenweber was the low scorer in the entire field. He carded a 34 on the front nine and 36 on the back, finishing nine strokes ahead of the next Lakota West golfer. The LWHS Athletics account on X noted it was his sixth medalist honor of the season, a standout run for the Firebirds' top player heading into postseason play.

Three teammates bunched within a single stroke of each other behind Wullenweber. Junior Greyson Treherne shot 79, while senior Camden Steinhilber and junior Chris Cavens each posted 80. Senior Jake Stevens rounded out the scorecard with a 90.

Moeller claimed the sectional title with a 295, edging Lakota East on a tiebreaker after both teams finished at the same number, according to results posted on Baumspage. Lakota East senior Brody Hayes led the Thunderhawks with a 72. Loveland grabbed the fourth qualifying spot at 310.

The Lakota West school announcement confirmed the result on Thursday, Sept. 24, highlighting Wullenweber's performance and the upcoming district date.

Both Lakota schools now turn their attention to the Division I District Championships, scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5, at Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, according to the OHSAA Southwest District tournament page. That round is the next step on the road to the state tournament.
