Lakota Local School District invites K-12 students to enter its 28th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day contest by 4 p.m. Nov. 23.
The contest, titled "Admirable Aspect," asks students to choose one quality of King's life they most admire and describe how they practice it or plan to, according to the district's announcement. Home-schooled and private-school students who live within district boundaries are also eligible.
Individual students can submit a written piece equivalent to a two-minute speech or respond through any artistic medium. Classes, scout troops and youth organizations can enter group projects, including skits, songs, artwork or videos, within a two-minute limit.
All entries must be submitted electronically through the district's online form. Each student's work must be uploaded separately.
Winners will perform at the "Live the Dream: Our Declaration of Unity" community celebration on Monday, Jan. 18, 2027, following a march from West Chester Township into Liberty Township. Winning entries may appear at community venues in January and February.
