Liberty Early Childhood School will honor veterans who are family members of its students at a celebration Friday, Nov. 13, starting at 10 a.m.
Students at the Lakota Local school in Liberty Township will sing patriotic songs during the assembly, according to the school's website.
Space is limited. The school said only veterans who are family members of Liberty ECS students may attend, and each veteran may bring up to two guests. Non-veteran family members who are not a guest of a veteran are asked not to attend.
Families planning to attend with a veteran must sign up in advance through the school's SignUpGenius page so staff can plan for the crowd. The sign-up link is available on the school's news page.
Photo submissions due Nov. 11
Liberty ECS is also building a Veteran's Honor Wall, a bulletin board display featuring photos of students' veteran family members. Veterans do not need to attend the Nov. 13 assembly to be included on the wall.
Families can submit photos through the school's online form. The deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 11. Both the sign-up and the photo form are linked from the school's announcement page.
The photo wall gives families a way to recognize veterans who may not be able to make it to the assembly in person. The school encouraged all families with a veteran relative to participate, whether or not the veteran plans to attend.
Liberty ECS serves pre-kindergarten through second grade and enrolls about 407 students. The school is part of the Lakota Local School District.
The celebration is the second Veterans Day event announced by a Lakota Local early childhood school this fall. Heritage Early Childhood School in Liberty Township is hosting its own celebration Nov. 6.
