Lakota East girls soccer broke into the win column Tuesday, Aug. 18, beating Springboro 3-1 at home in Liberty Township behind goals from three different players.

Abby Vogelmann, Bailey Bacher and Gianna Perry each found the net for the Lady Hawks, who controlled the match from the opening whistle and built a 3-0 cushion before Springboro managed a late consolation goal.

The three-goal outburst marked the best offensive showing of the young season for East, which had managed only a 2-2 draw in its opener against Lebanon on Saturday, Aug. 15, according to the team's MaxPreps schedule.

Midfield and defense set the tone

Morgan Egloff anchored the midfield against Springboro, winning possession and pushing the ball forward to give East's attackers room to operate. Behind her, the Lady Hawks' back line limited Springboro's looks at goal throughout the match.

The team's game recap credited the defense with "excellent work" in securing the result, a performance that stood in contrast to the Lebanon match, where East conceded twice.

Three different goal scorers in a single game is a promising sign for a program looking to build attacking depth. Vogelmann, Bacher and Perry give the coaching staff multiple options up front as the schedule gets tougher.

Record at 1-1-1 after Milford loss

The momentum from the Springboro win didn't carry into the next match. East traveled to Milford on Thursday, Aug. 20, and dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision, leaving the Lady Hawks at 1-1-1 through three games.

The shutout loss showed the flip side of the early season: the defense held up its end, but the attack that produced three goals two days earlier couldn't break through.

Season context

Lakota East Athletics finished second in the GMC All Sports Award standings for the second straight year in 2025-26, trailing only Mason. Athletic director Jill Meiring said in May that the finish "speaks volumes about the culture of excellence we continue to build at Lakota East." The girls soccer team enters fall looking to contribute to that standing as conference play approaches.

East's full schedule is available on MaxPreps. The Lady Hawks stand at 1-1-1 with Greater Miami Conference matchups ahead.
