Lakota East girls cross country finished 14th out of 27 teams at the Saturday Night Lights meet at Centerville High School on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Sophomore Alyssa Brown led the Lady Hawks with a 21st-place individual finish, crossing the line in 19:43.2. The field drew 27 programs to Centerville for the season-opening race.

Sophomore Ava Kidd posted one of the team's most notable results, finishing in 21:26.5. That mark was nearly two minutes faster than her time at the same meet a year ago, according to the team's website.

The site called the outing "a solid starting point" as the Lady Hawks begin building toward the championship portion of the season.

Lakota East returns to competition Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Lebanon Running Warrior Invitational.
