Lakota Local School District is warning students and families: school rules follow you to the football stadium.
With both Lakota East and Lakota West kicking off their seasons at home Friday, Aug. 21, the district published a stadium conduct notice on Tuesday, Aug. 18, across its school news pages, spelling out what's expected of younger fans and what could change if problems arise.
The bottom line for grades 6-8: the district isn't restricting their access yet, but it could.
If behavior becomes an issue, Lakota said it may require parental attendance for students through eighth grade, limit where younger students can sit and require presale ticket purchases. The district noted that other area schools have already adopted such measures. Mason City Schools, a neighboring district, imposed an adult-supervision requirement for football games in August 2025.
What the rules say
The guidance, posted to individual school pages including Independence Elementary and VanGorden Elementary, lays out specific expectations:
- Students must watch from the stands, not roam the stadium grounds.
- Volume, language and actions must remain respectful to other spectators.
- No bags or sporting equipment allowed inside the stadium.
- Students are expected to throw away their own trash and food.
The student code of conduct applies at all Lakota events, the district emphasized, even those held at a different school than a student attends.
The family partnership
The notice frames the guidance as a collaboration, asking parents to reinforce expectations at home before game night. Principals at feeder schools pushed the message directly to their communities rather than relying solely on the district's central communications.
No individual administrator's name appeared on the notice.
This week's games
Lakota East hosts Centerville at 7 p.m. Friday in Liberty Township. Lakota West hosts St. Xavier at 7 p.m. Friday in West Chester Township. Both are non-conference openers.
The district has not set a timeline for reviewing whether stricter policies will be needed later in the season.
