Liberty Township families can get their car seats inspected for free while sampling chili cooked by local firefighters at the annual Spot-a-Truck & Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Liberty Center.
The event runs 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot next to the Taylor Garage. Admission and all activities are free.
Certified technicians from the Liberty Township Fire Department and Cincinnati Children's Hospital will perform full car seat installations and safety checks inside the Taylor Garage during the event, according to Liberty Center's event listing. LTFD is a certified fitting station partner with Cincinnati Children's Comprehensive Children's Injury Center.
The C3OHIO Firefighter Chili Cook-Off pits five departments against one another: Liberty Township, West Chester Township, Deerfield Township, Fairfield Township and the City of Monroe. Visitors can taste each entry for free and cast a vote for their favorite. All proceeds benefit C3OHIO Caring Community Collaborative, a West Chester-based nonprofit that works to connect local organizations, businesses and faith groups around issues including addiction, hunger and mental health.
As we reported July 28, the cook-off is a returning event at Liberty Center.
The Spot-a-Truck portion brings heavy equipment and emergency vehicles from Liberty Township Public Works, LTFD, the Butler County Sheriff's Office and the West Chester Police Department.
