MidPointe Library cardholders can stream thousands of movies and TV shows for free through Pure Flix, a faith-and-family video platform added Tuesday, Sept. 1.
The service, which normally costs $9.99 per month, is available at no charge to anyone with a registered MidPointe Library card. Cardholders can log in at pureflix.libraryideas.com through the library's eLibrary page.
MidPointe said it is among the first library systems in the country to offer Pure Flix, according to an announcement on its website. The rollout comes through a partnership with Library Ideas, LLC, a Virginia-based company that distributes digital content to more than 5,000 library customers in over 20 countries.
Pure Flix's catalog includes more than 2,000 movies and 800 television series, according to Library Ideas. Genres range from children's programming and documentaries to dramas, romances and holiday favorites. The library highlighted several titles available through the service, including Ainsley McGregor Mysteries, Jep and Jess: Beyond the Bayou and Crossroad Springs.
At least one other Ohio library, Mechanicsburg Public Library, announced the same service on Aug. 31.
No additional sign-up is required. MidPointe Library serves West Chester Township and has a branch at 9363 Centre Pointe Drive. Residents without a library card can register for free at any MidPointe branch.
