The Windisch Road bridge north of Crescentville Road in West Chester Township closed Monday, Aug. 24, to all through traffic for a superstructure replacement expected to last nearly three months.
The Butler County Engineer's Office said the bridge, located about 0.4 miles north of Crescentville Road, is tentatively scheduled to reopen in early- to mid-November. No firm date has been set.
The project includes a full superstructure replacement and pier encasement on the bridge. Ford Development Corporation holds the construction contract, which is part of a $1.5 million multi-bridge rehabilitation deal that covers this project and others across Butler County. The county has not specified how much of that total is allocated to the Windisch Road bridge alone.
Funding
Three levels of government are paying for the work. The Butler County Engineer's Office is contributing local dollars, the Ohio Public Works Commission is providing state funding, and the Ohio Department of Transportation is supplying federal money through its Jobs & Commerce program.
Detour route
The closure affects all traffic in both directions.
Drivers heading northbound on Windisch Road should detour east on Crescentville Road, north on Cincinnati Dayton Road and west on Allen Road. Southbound traffic reverses the route: east on Allen Road, south on Cincinnati Dayton Road and west on Crescentville Road.
The detour took effect Monday, Aug. 24, and will remain in place for the duration of construction through at least early November.
